“Dark Horse” Patti Still a Celebrity

Baldwin calls her a 'dark horse'

During her stay in the jungle on I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!, Patti Blagojevich has made friends with many of her celebrity fellow contestants. But it appears she's making a good impression on the American public as well.

On Wednesday night, hosts Damien Fahey and Myleene Class revealed that Patti had earned enough votes (as of that night) to keep her out of the Bottom Two, suggesting that she could be safe from elimination.

Considering that Patti is not a celebrity by conventional standards, this got some of the other jungle dwellers thinking.

"I think Patti Blagojevich is somebody right now that's really appealing to the everyday mom out there," said Stephen Baldwin. "She could be a bit of a dark horse in this process."

Patti has certainly proven herself to be a worthy competitor. Along with eating tarantulas and solving math problems, she has dragged herself through the mud—literally—and given celebs like John "Spider" Salley and Sanjaya Malakar a run for their money... or their pizza.

During last night's food challenge, the contestants had to dive into a large pit of mud, brightly-colored pool floaties, and little crocodiles in order to find one of three sunken stars. Dressed in ridiculous spandex "wrestling outfits," those who found a star earned a pizza dinner.

Patti, along with Malakar and Lou Diamond Phillips, earned themselves a piece of the pie. It's doubtful though that the jungle serves Chicago-style pizza.

More importantly than pizza though, Patti earned enough votes to keep her in the jungle for another week. This means that, surprisingly, she was more popular with American viewers than Holly Montag of The Hills and former model Janice Dickinson, who were both eliminated from the game.

After the eliminations, the six remaining celebrities received letters from home. Rod's letter to Patti read:

"Dear Patti, It's been a long two weeks and we miss you. Please don't worry. We're all fine. The highlight of our day is when we get to watch you on TV at night. Just look after yourself and your new friends in the jungle. We're fine. Amy, Annie and I are so proud of you and love you so much. Love, Rod.

"P.S. Annie keeps saying, 'I should have been the one to eat the tarantula.'"

Later, Patti reflected, "It really lights a fire under me to make my daughters to be proud of me and to act in a way that they can be proud of and hold their heads up high."
