From former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin to Republican presidential candidates Rick Santorum and Newt Gingrich, this week's "Weekend Update" on "Saturday Night Live" was all about the Republicans.

The big political get of the evening was “Sarah Palin,” her triumphant return to "SNL" timed to the release of HBO's Palin biopic “Game Change."

But if Palin seemed a bit off, it’s probably because it wasn’t Tina Fey reprising the role of the former Alaska governor it was Andy Samberg, filling in for a "sick" Fey.

Although he didn’t quite nail the impressions saying “You gotcha” instead of “You betcha,” and blinking rather than winking Samberg got laughs for poking fun at the former Alaskan governor’s penchant for writing crib notes on her hand.

Also during "Weekend Update," Meyers touched on the Kansas caucus, where Rick Santorum was the apparent winner, NBC News declared.

“Santorum won the Kansas caucuses, beating Romney by 30 percent,” Meyers said. “He was expected to do well there, because it’s also a giant square.”

Meyers also poked fun at Newt Gingrich for likening himself to a tortoise.

“Newt Gingrich vowed to continue his campaign, saying ‘I’m the tortoise, I take it one step at a time,’” Meyers said. “’Also, if you roll me onto my back, I can never get up.’”
