Rapper The Game pleaded not guilty on Monday to charges that he hit and threatened an off-duty LAPD officer during a basketball game in Hollywood.
The Game, or Jayceon Terrell Taylor, allegedly confronted the officer when the two were on opposing teams at a basketball game at Hollywood High School in March, according to the LA County District Attorney's Office.
After the 35-year-old rapper, a Los Angeles native, was accused of "committing a hard foul," he allegedly confronted the off-duty officer, struck him and later threatened to kill him, prosecutors said.
Taylor is charged with one felony count of making criminal threats and one misdemeanor count of assault and battery. He faces up to three years in prison if convicted.
The court appearance comes in the wake of a judge's order that Taylor pay over $200,000 to his children's former nanny in an Instagram-related libel case.
Taylor's representatives did not immediately respond to NBC4's requests for comment. He is due back in court July 30.
