Chicago's Ebony Magazine has had a special relationship with Gary-born Michael Jackson for decades, and an interview featured as the cover story in the magazine's December 2007 issue shared a Jackson not often seen.

Asked by CBS2's Derrick Blakely is Jackson died misunderstood,  the CEO of Ebony's publishing company, Linda Johnson Rice, said,  "I think everybody understood his music. I'm not sure they understood him as a human being, and unfortunately, I don't think we'll ever be able to understand."
