Plan Sets Zoning Restrictions on Medical Marijuana Dispensaries

Mayor Rahm Emanuel and Ald. Edward Burke are seeking to limit where medical marijuana dispensaries and growing operations can set up in the city, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Under the plan, permits must be obtained from the Zoning Board of Appeals and the operations will be limited to manufacturing districts, the newspaper reports.

The businesses would also need to have a minimum amount of parking available.

Medical marijuana becomes legal in the state on Jan. 1.
