The Buzz: Edward J. Acevedo, who was born and raised in Chicago, has been representing the 2nd district since 1995. In addition, he is a police officer for the Chicago Police Department, and received an Award of Valor from the Sheriff's Department for rescuing residents trapped in a fire. Last year, he sponsored the Illinois Dream Act, in favor of allowing undocumented students the right to higher education.
