Kane, Panarin Favorites to Win Major NHL Awards

Both players are part of a second line that's among the league's best trios

The Chicago Blackhawks have been getting some crazy production from their second line this season, and people are beginning to take notice as two of the players from that group are currently favorites to win some big-time awards.

Patrick Kane, who was named the NHL’s First Star of the Month for November, is currently the odds-on favorite to win the Hart Trophy, given to the league’s Most Valuable Player. Kane’s odds currently sit at 2-to-1, according to new odds issued by Bovada on Tuesday, and he edged out a pair of Dallas Stars forwards as Jamie Benn (5-to-1) and Tyler Seguin (6-to-1) finished second and third in the rankings.

Kane isn’t the only member of the second line to feel the love in terms of award odds. Rookie forward Artemi Panarin is the favorite to win the Calder Trophy, given to the best rookie in the league. His odds currently sit at 3-to-2, and he’s trailed closely by Arizona Coyotes forward Max Domi (5-to-2) and Detroit Red Wings forward Dylan Larkin (9-to-2).

Unfortunately for the Blackhawks as a whole, they’re not considered the favorites to win their own division this season, much less the Stanley Cup championship. The Hawks are currently ranked third in odds to win the Central, carrying a 9-to-2 chance of doing so, and they are the fourth-ranked team in Stanley Cup odds, with a 9-to-1 chance of repeating as champions.
