Manti Te'o #5 of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish warms up prior to playing against the Alabama Crimson Tide in the 2013 Discover BCS National Championship game at Sun Life Stadium on January 7, 2013 in Miami Gardens, Florida.

Manti Te'o may have run himself out of the first round of the NFL Draft, and out of the Chicago Bears potential plans.

Te’o's 40-yard dash was less than impressive.

The middle linebacker clocked unofficial times of 4.81 and 4.80. He officially clocked in at 4.82 seconds. The Bears cover-2 scheme requires a fast middle linebacker to drop into coverage, and the combine stats may work against Te'o in that regard.

NFL.com lists 12 defensive linemen that ran at least a 4.81 in the same 40.

Another factor affecting Te’o’s stock in the draft is his unexpected weight loss. The linebacker measured 6-foot-2, 255 pounds playing at Notre Dame, but only measured in at 6-foot-1, 241 pounds this weekend.
