Israel Idonije #71 of the Chicago Bears looks on from the sideline in the second half against the New York Giants during a preseason game on August 24, 2012 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
Veteran defensive end Israel Idonije won't be making a triumphant return to the Chicago Bears this season.
The Bears announced Thursday that the team has terminated Idonije's contract.
Idonije played for the Bears from 2004-2012. He played with the Detroit Lions in 2013 before re-signing with the Bears during the offseason.
The team also waived safety Sean Cattouse, quarterback Jerrod Johnson and tight end Fendi Onobun.
The Bears announced the signings of defensive end Jamil Merrell from Rutgers and linebacker Conor O'Neill from Wisconsin.
