Over 300 flights have been canceled and travellers leaving O’Hare International Airport are experiencing extended delays due to an historic Halloween snowfall.

According to the Chicago Department of Aviation, a total of 208 flights have been canceled at O’Hare due to the snowy conditions, and on average flights that are taking off are being delayed by 68 minutes as of 5:30 p.m.

Things are slightly better at Midway, with an average flight delay of 21 minutes, but at least 126 flights have been canceled because of the weather.

Thursday has already been the snowiest Halloween on record for Chicago, as O’Hare has reported 3.4 inches of snow on Thursday. That blows away the old record for Oct. 31, which was set in 2014 when 0.1 inches of snow fell at the airport.

Snow is expected to continue into the evening hours, meaning that the airport could extend the record before all is said and done.
