Stay Alert: More Storms Could Bring Large Hail, Damaging Winds to Chicago Area

Much of the Chicago area is under a marginal risk for severe weather Friday, Saturday and Sunday

After an evening that brought hail and lighting to much of the Chicago area, it appears we aren't out of the woods yet.

More storms will be possible throughout the weekend, threatening to bring hail and damaging winds once again.

Much of the Chicago area is under a marginal risk for severe weather Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

A cold front pushed its way south through the region Friday morning, keeping thunderstorm activity largely in areas south of the city. But a warm front is expected to lift the system north across the Chicago area during the evening, bringing with it the potential for severe conditions.

Some of the storms could produce hail the size of quarters and gusty winds.

Another chance for severe weather moves in Saturday afternoon, growing more widespread throughout the evening hours. These storms again have the chance to become severe as they continue into Sunday morning, bringing a threat for heavy downpours mainly in areas west of Chicago.

A greater chance for severe thunderstorms moves in Sunday afternoon, with the main threat appearing to be damaging wind gusts. That threat is expected to decrease throughout the afternoon hours.
