Winds may have started off calm Thursday morning, but the brutal winter weather is far from over in the Chicago area.
Light snow is possible Thursday afternoon and evening. The snow is expected to bring only a dusting to a half-inch of accumulation to the area, though locations near the Wisconsin-Illinois border could see close to an inch by Thursday night.
Excessive cold continues, though it won't be quite as bad as earlier in the week.
Highs are expected to reach into the teens before dropping back into the single digits by the evening, marking the return of sub-zero wind chills.

Thursday morning temperatures still made for transit woes, causing the cancellation of more than 75 flights at Midway Airport and mechanical problems for multiple Chicago Transit Authority trains.
The chance for snow continues Friday in central Illinois as wind chills stay near 0. Some areas south of Interstate 80 could see up to three inches of snow from Friday evening into Saturday, according to some forecasts.
The holiday weekend will continue to see chances for snow and bitter temperatures.
New Year's Eve will see highs in the low-teens with a chance for light snow. New Year's Day stays cold with a chance for lake effect snow possible, particualrly in northwest Indiana.
