Chicago's two airports are back open for business after being walloped by a major winter storm, but it's going to take a while for things to get back to normal.

At O’Hare, airlines reported approximately 1,100 cancellations Thursday.  Midway at midday was faring a bit better, with roughly 30 cancellations.

Airlines at both airports said they're stepping up their schedules to help clear up the backlog of travelers who haven't made flights over the last few days.

Travelers are strongly encouraged to check with their airlines before heading to the airport.  Security lines are expected to be long, so those with scheduled flights are advised to get to the airport at least two hours in advance of departure.
