Upcoming shopping events at Macy's stores will celebrate Earth Week in high style, cementing the fact that environmentally friendly and fashionable are no longer mutually exclusive retail options.
Macy's campaign, which is a partnership with the National Park Foundation and Illinois State Parks through the Department of Natural Resources, commemorates the Earth Day holiday on Wednesday, April 22, along with National Park Week. The "Turn Over a New Leaf" promotion includes Macy's online Eco-Shop, featuring an array of green merchandise, such as housewares, clothing and beauty products. Also, on Wednesday, the first 150 kids to visit the Children's Department in all Macy's locations will receive the new Kid Power Activity Book, which teaches young'uns fun ways they can help keep the Earth healthy and happy. The stores are also offering stylish reusable shopping totes for $1.95, with $1 going toward the National Park Foundation.
Macy's will be eco-friendly retail central on Saturday, April 25. All stores will host the "One Good Turn" national charity shopping day, offering 20 percent discounts to shoppers who donate $5 to the National Park Foundation and the Illinois State Parks/Department of Natural Resources in stores or through macys.com or www.nationalparks.org. In addition, the landmark State Street store will present a "Family Fun Day" in the fifth-floor kids' department from 1-3PM on Saturday, complete with creatures such as snakes, hedgehogs and turtles; a representative from the Illinois Department of Natural Resources teaching children about our parks; an Earth Day coloring station; face painters to transform kids into their favorite animals; and toys made from sustainable materials. And, at the Water Tower store from 12-4PM, eco beauty addicts can get their fix at Beautiful Planet, Macy's new earth-friendly cosmetics boutique. The environmentally aware event will include Nvey Eco Greener, Cleaner makeovers, organic Panagea mini-facials and organic snacks from Hannah's Bretzels.
