Enduring Americana restaurant L. Woods Tap & Pine Lodge is celebrating 10 years in business on Monday, Jan. 12, and you'll reap the rewards. The near north suburban Lincolnwood dining destination, a Lettuce Entertain You Enterprises venture and an outdoorsy ski lodge fantasy realized, will be thanking customers with several dining and drinking deals, giveaways and entertainment throughout the day.
Appropriately enough, the number "10" will figure prominently in the day's festivities. Ten-cent bottles of Schlitz beer and $10 bottles of wine will be available all day. Lunch specials will include a $10 prix-fixe menu of homemade soup, a signature sandwich or hearty burger and dessert. Select dinner entrees will be priced at 10 bucks, including popular dishes like barbecue chicken, crusted Lake Superior whitefish and baby back ribs. Signature L. Woods desserts like key lime pie and chocolate layer cake will be served at lunch and dinner for $1.10, as will appetizers at the bar.
The "Big 10" party features entertainment by the Dooley Brothers (a popular local band playing everything from rock to swing to Irish folk) from 5:30-8:30PM. There will also be complimentary glasses of champagne, which will be served by Sima Southgate, a host who has worked at L. Woods since the restaurant first opened.
Make your reservations for early in the dinner service (which starts at 4PM), when guests will find gifts taped to the bottom of each table. Of the 62 tables, 10 will have gift certificates for a free dinner that evening, while the others will have certificates for free appetizers, drinks and desserts on a future visit.
