Kit Kat Lounge Turning Lucky Number Eight

Lakeview's popular Kit Kat Lounge & Supper Club celebrates its eighth birthday with a "Lucky Number 8" theme party on Nov. 20. (We can only imagine it will be more fun than "Lucky Number Slevin.")  By celebrating eight years in 2008, Kit Kat is taking a cue from Asian culture, which believes the number eight means good fortune.

The Asian-themed party will feature geisha girls (in addition to entertainment by the drag club's regular lineup of female impersonators, the Kit Kat Divas), fortune tellers and movies such as "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon," "To Wong Foo" and "Memoirs of a Geisha" on five high-definition TVs throughout the lounge.

From 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. guests can enjoy a Vox vodka-hosted bar serving complimentary martinis like the Kit Kat (vodka, melon, lime and a splash of triple sec) and the Emperor (vodka with sake). Free appetizers will also make the rounds, including crab rangoons and lobster spring rolls.

Specialty drinks for the evening include My Birthday Cake, with Vox vodka, strawberry and chocolate liqueurs, pineapple juice and a dash of vanilla cream for $11.50. Chef Matt Stovey has also created a special anniversary menu for the party, with such Asian-accented dishes as the Diva's Asian salad (Napa cabbage, radicchio, carrots, spinach and candied cashews in a ginger-mustard vinaigrette with wonton strips, $10) and a sweet & spicy tenderloin (a ginger- and chili-rubbed pork tenderloin with cabbage slaw, $22).

Cheers to many more, Kit Kat!
