Should Illinois Get Rid of Lieutenant Governor's Post?

House Speaker Michael Madigan wants to abolish the lieutenant governor's office.  Legislation introduced yesterday could eliminate the post in 2015. If it passes, the ticket that wins the upcoming general election would only have their candidate serving in that office for one term.

Illinois' line of succession would change. Madigan's daughter, Attorney General Lisa Madigan, would become second in line to succeed a governor.
