Report: Aaron Rodgers Compares Packers GM to Jerry Krause

Report: Aaron Rodgers mocks Packers GM with Krause comp originally appeared on NBC Sports Chicago

Things have gotten so bad between the Packers and Aaron Rodgers, that Green Bay’s star quarterback has reportedly begun comparing GM Brian Gutekunst to one of the most infamous GMs in all of sports: Jerry Krause. In an article published on Wednesday, Bob McGinn reported that Rodgers has mocked Gutekunst in group chats with his Packers teammates by invoking the unsavory comparison to the late Bulls GM.

Krause notoriously rubbed many Bulls players the wrong way during their six-championship run in the ‘90s. He came back in the public eye last summer, as ESPN portrayed Krause as a villain of sorts in “The Last Dance.” But one thing— or really six things— Krause had that Gutekunst doesn’t, are championship rings as GM.

According to McGinn, Rodgers is so upset with Gutekunst that he won’t return to Green Bay as long as Gutekunst remains the team’s GM.

“In recent months, according to sources, the Packers have offered to make the 37-year-old Rodgers the NFL’s highest-paid quarterback,” McGinn said. “Those overtures were turned aside. The fractured relationship between quarterback and team seems to have little or nothing to do with money.”

McGinn also spoke to a friend of Rodgers, who guessed there was only a 2% chance of Rodgers making amends and returning to the Packers.

“Once he gets something in his head, he usually doesn’t back down,” that friend said in McGinn’s story.
