NHL Sets Free Agency Date and Time

NHL sets free agency date and time originally appeared on NBC Sports Chicago

On Friday, the NHL announced that free agency will begin on October 9 at 11 a.m. CT.

The free agent market usually opens at 11 a.m. CT on July 1, but was pushed back this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The salary cap for the league will remain flat at $81.5 million — where it was for the 2019-20 season — putting teams like the Blackhawks, who have several pending free agents to consider re-signing, in a bind.
