Cubs injury update: Anthony Rizzo takes live batting practice

Anthony Rizzo took live batting practice on Sunday and had "no back issues," according to Cubs manager David Ross.

Rozzo and Steven Souza faced right-hander Colin Rea in a controlled batting practice session Sunday morning, before the Cubs were scheduled to play an intrasquad scrimmage.

"He looked good today," Ross said of Rizzo. "… I think the main thing we have to do is see how he reacts when he cools down, goes home and get feedback from him."

Ross was especially encouraged by Rizzo's reaction to swinging and missing on a couple changeups, a movement that can put extra torque on the back. Even then, according to Ross, Rizzo felt fine.

Rizzo remains day-to-day and has been limited since Tuesday due to lower back tightness.
