Blackhawks' Caleb Jones to Miss Roughly 6 Weeks With Wrist Injury

Blackhawks defenseman Caleb Jones is expected to miss approximately six weeks with a left wrist strain, the team announced Friday. He had missed the last few practices with what the team called wrist soreness.

It's an unfortunate loss for the Blackhawks, especially after already losing Wyatt Kalynuk for two-to-four weeks because of an ankle injury. That leaves one spot open on the back end for the Opening Night roster, and perhaps even two for depth purposes.

Jones, 24, was acquired by the Blackhawks over the offseason in a deal that sent Duncan Keith to the Edmonton Oilers. He was having a really strong training camp.

"I can say he had a great camp and played very well," head coach Jeremy Colliton said on Thursday. "Looked like he could play regularly, so that's a blow for him."
