This Sunday will mark the 20th anniversary of the passing of Chicago icon Harry Caray.
To celebrate the life of the legendary baseball broadcaster, the party will be in full swing Thursday at the steakhouse that bears his name.
Cubs fans were already gathered in the early morning hours at Harry Caray’s Italian Steakhouse in River North Thursday, coming together for the annual "worldwide toast" to Caray.
The theme of this year's celebration is "Space, the Infinite Frontier," in a nod to Will Ferrell's Harry Caray skit on "Saturday Night Live" - but also to commemorate the space movies like Armageddon that dominated 1998.
Cubs Hall of Famer Ryne Sandberg was scheduled to lead the official toast to Caray at 6:30 p.m., conducting a rendition of the legend's favorite song, "Take Me out to the Ball Game."
For those who can't make it to River North, the "worldwide" celebration is indeed happening in multiple locations, including Harry Caray's in in Lombard, Rosemont or Water Tower Place, at Chicago bars like The Lodge, Eli's or Butch Mcguires, and at skyscrapers across the globe like the Berlin TV Tower,Tour Montparnasse in Paris, One Liberty Observation Deck in Philadelphia, Goryokaku Tower in Hakodate City, Japan; and 360 Chicago.
