Chicago Cubs fans may not have forgiven Dexter Fowler for hitting a game-winning home run against them earlier this week, but the name he and his wife Aliya chose for their daughter may help that process along.
On Thursday, the Fowlers revealed that their daughter, who will be born this summer, will be named Ivy Noor Fowler:
Naturally, the name “Ivy” made Cubs fans very happy, as many saw it as a callback to Fowler’s time with the team. His wife, however, debunked those thoughts shortly after announcing the baby’s name:
“PSA Cubs fans: despite your excitement, the name Ivy has nothing to do with Wrigley,” she said. “Can we please have a baby without a Cubs-Cards dispute?”
As Mrs. Fowler surely knows, there is no such thing as a name that can avoid such controversies on social media, but we’ll be sure to congratulate the family on their big news just the same!
