Eloy Jiménez and José Abreu both hit home runs, and Iván Nova had a stellar day on the mound as the Chicago White Sox beat the Cubs and split the season series with their North Side rivals.

Nova gave up five hits and struck out four batters in 5.2 innings of work, and aside from a solo home run by Robel Garcia, the Cubs' offense was held in check on the final day of the first half of the regular season.

Kyle Hendricks took the loss for the Cubs, giving up two runs in four innings. Brad Brach also gave up a home run to Abreu in the fifth inning of the game as his ERA ballooned to 6.11 on the season.

The two teams played three scoreless innings before the Sox got on the board in the fourth inning. After Jon Jay walked, Jiménez launched a deep home run to center field, making it a 2-0 game.

Abreu hit a home run of his own in the fifth, poking an opposite-field home run over the right field wall to give the Sox a 3-0 edge in the contest.

That advantage remained until the seventh, when Garcia finally got the Cubs on the board with a home run deep into the left field bleachers off of Aaron Bummer. It wasn't enough however, as the Cubs lost and fell to 47-42 on the season.

Both teams will now head home for the All-Star break, with Javier Báez, Willson Contreras, and Kris Bryant representing the Cubs, and Abreu, James McCann, and Lucas Giolito representing the White Sox.
