Game 4 of the NLDS at Wrigley Field was washed out Tuesday afternoon, the MLB announced.
The game was rescheduled for 3:08 p.m. Wednesday.
"MLB has shared today's NLDS Game 4 will be delayed due to forecasted inclement weather. We'll share additional updates as possible," the Cubs' official account tweeted just before the cancellation.
The time of the game against the Washington Nationals was originally pushed up to 4:38 p.m. CT in an effort to avoid the coming rain.
Scattered showers during the late-morning and early afternoon hours are forecast to grow steadier heading into the late-afternoon and evening hours - just after the Cubs game was scheduled to get underway.
The heavier rain could hold off until later innings of the game or possibly until the end, but exact timing remains unclear.
Models predict anywhere from 1 to 1.5 inches will likely fall by Wednesday morning with some locations seeing up to 2 inches of rain.
