Rahm Emanuel has been taking fire in recent weeks from liberals upset he doesn't support their causes, but now he’s taking fire from Sarah Palin. Egads.
Palin posted a note on her Facebook page asking President Obama to fire his Chief of Staff over some comments he made during a session with liberals.
But, before we get to the juicy Palin bits, some back-story:
Progressives were incensed when Emanuel walked into a weekly strategy meeting featuring liberal groups and White House aides, in which they were discussing running attack ads against Republicans that were bucking the public option, according to a Wall Street Journal story.
Emanuel allegedly listened to their idea and told them that the idea was “F---ing retarded.”
The progressives are upset that Emanuel apparently caved on fighting for the public option.
Sarah Palin is not.
She’s all hot and bothered because Rahm, he of legendary cussing skills presumably learned in Chicago, used the word “retarded.” Here's her Facebook post:
I would ask the president to show decency in this process by eliminating one member of that inner circle, Mr. Rahm Emanuel, and not allow Rahm's continued indecent tactics to cloud efforts. Yes, Rahm is known for his caustic, crude references about those with whom he disagrees, but his recent tirade against participants in a strategy session was such a strong slap in many American faces that our president is doing himself a disservice by seeming to condone Rahm's recent sick and offensive tactic.
The Obama Administration's Chief of Staff scolded participants, calling them, "F---ing retarded," according to several participants, as reported in the Wall Street Journal.
Just as we'd be appalled if any public figure of Rahm's stature ever used the "N-word" or other such inappropriate language, Rahm's slur on all God's children with cognitive and developmental disabilities - and the people who love them - is unacceptable, and it's heartbreaking.
Emanuel, who once told British Prime Minister Tony Blair not to “f**k up” a speech, must be quaking in his boots.
