La Shawn K. Ford currently serves as an Illinois State Representative for the 8th District.
He made his name in real estate, opening his own firm, Ford Desired Realty Inc. A graduate of Loyola university, he has also worked as a teacher and a baskteball coach.Ford serves on numerous state commitees including the Juvenile Justice Reform committee, which is chaired by Annazette Collins, one of his primary opponents.
