Group Accuses Apple Supplier of Violating Chinese Labor Laws

A labor watchdog organization accused a Taiwanese company that makes Apple products of abusing labor laws, The Associated Press reported. China Labor Watch said Pegatron Corp. withheld employees' pay, discriminated against ethnic minorities and women, required excessive work hours, dumped hazardous chemicals into sewers and allowed poor living conditions for their employees. During Apple’s own investigation, they confirmed that management was holding employees’ identity cards. In response to the accusations, Pegatron's CEO said in a statement that they are planning to conduct their own investigations in order to correct Chinese labor law violations found in their company.
