Over a hundred American volunteers — many of them U.S. military veterans — have joined Kurdish troops in the battle against ISIS in Iraq, NBC News reported. On Tuesday, a handful of Americans volunteers advanced alongside Kurdish fighters, dodging bullets and trying to defuse hidden IEDs in a fast skirmish to retake a village from ISIS. "They're taking over cities that hundreds of Marines and soldiers died for," one of the American volunteers, Ryan Gueli, of Ohio, told NBC News. "If they're allowed to get more powerful you just leave them to your children to fight, and that's not right."
