Jaquell McDonald (inset) faces drug charges after Dover police say they found a stolen minivan full of marijuana plants.

A Delaware man is accused of driving a stolen van filled with 131 pounds of marijuana plants.

Citing a Dover police statement, news outlets report 24-year-old Jaquell McDonald was arrested Tuesday afternoon on charges including possessing marijuana with the intent to deliver it and evidence tampering.

Dover police say in the statement released Thursday that a report of a suspicious vehicle on Haslet Street led officers to pull over McDonald and determine the vehicle had been stolen out of state police jurisdiction.

It says officers searched McDonald and found him to have 72.9 grams of marijuana on his person. It says a search of the van uncovered the marijuana plants, roots and all, which appeared to have been recently pulled from the ground.

In a Facebook post, Dover police joked that "We don't think that air freshener is going to cover the smell."

McDonald has posted bail and been released from custody. It is unclear if he has an attorney who could comment on his behalf.
