A 17-year-old boy has been arrested by Antioch police after a Domino's delivery woman said she was kidnapped and raped at gunpoint Sunday morning while on her route.
Antioch Police Capt. Tammany Brooks said he can't remember in all his time with the department ever handling a case where a delivery person had been sexually assaulted. He added that the 22-year-old woman also had been robbed during the brutal attack in the California Bay Area suburb. He said the teen, whose name is not being released because he is a minor, and the woman did not know each other.
Domino's reacted swiftly to the news.
"We are shocked and horrified by what happened," Domino's vice president of communications Tim McIntyre said in an email early Monday morning. "We couldn't conceive of something like this happening, especially on a Sunday morning."
According to Antioch Police Sgt. Dimitri Barakos, the woman was making a delivery on the 2800 block of Blue Bell Circle at 11:20 a.m. when she was robbed at gunpoint. She was then forced back into her vehicle by the teen who made her drive to an undisclosed location where he proceeded to sexually assault her.
Afterward, the delivery woman called police, and the teen was arrested near the area where the original robbery happened.
The teen was booked into juvenile Hall in Martinez. Despite his being a juvenile, there are a series of violent crimes under California penal code 707 (b) that allow prosecutors to charge offenders as adults. However, by Monday afternoon, the Contra Costa District Attorney's Office had not yet received the case.

As for Domino's, McIntyre said his company stood behind his employee.
"We will be working with the franchise owner to provide the victim with whatever kind of support she needs," he said in his email. "It is unthinkable that something like this could happen to an innocent woman, simply trying to earning a living. We hope the person who committed this heinous crime is prosecuted and punished to the fullest extent of the law."
