Shoo, fly, don’t bother us. And, hey, don’t bother our doughnuts either!
But bother they did. Thanks to an infestation of flies and other flying insects, the Dunkin’ Donuts/Baskin Robbins fast-food restaurant at 5130 N. Broadway Avenue in the Uptown neighborhood has reopened after a four day closure.
The eatery reopened today after passing reinspection.
Forget being attacked by killer tomatoes, these flying pests swarmed in armies throughout the restaurant. Over 180 flying creatures were spotted Thursday.
They crawled on doughnuts and bagels, on the menu mounted to the wall, in food selling and storing areas, and inside of rest rooms according to the release.
"This was one of the worst flying insect infestations that our inspectors have seen in a very long time," Deputy Commissioner of the department's Bureau of Rodent Control Josie Cruz told the Chicago Breaking News Center. "They are going to have to prove to us that they have revamped their house cleaning and pest control programs… before they will be allowed to reopen."
Spokesman for Street & San’s Bureau of Rodent control told CBS2 that the establishment will reopen Monday.
