Woman Attacked, Battered in W. Rogers Park

Police seek assailant who fled on foot

Chicago Police are warning residents to be on alert for a man who battered a woman and then attempted to sexually assault her in the West Rogers Park neighborhood early Sunday.

The 25-year-old victim was walking east in the 2300 block of West Rosemont Avenue when a man walking west hit her in the face and knocked her to the ground, according to an alert from police News Affairs.

The suspect then attempted to sexually assault the woman, but was scared off by a neighbor who heard the woman screaming for help. The man fled northbound through an alley and then eastbound through a gangway, the release said.

The suspect is a 23- to 25-year-old white Hispanic man with brown eyes and medium complexion, who is described as being 5-feet-9 to 5-feet-10 and 165 to 175 pounds.

He was last seen wearing a white T-shirt, blue jeans, white athletic shoes and a black baseball cap under a black hooded sweatshirt. He also appeared to have an injury under his left eye, the alert said.
