A 20-year-old woman was shot to death early Sunday morning at a party in the South Side Woodlawn neighborhood.
At 1:30 a.m., the woman was standing with a group of people in an alley in the 6100 block of South Cottage Grove, where the party took place, when a fight broke out, police said. In the course of the fight, shots were fired, and the woman was struck in the head.
The woman was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where she was pronounced dead, police said.
The Cook County medical examiner's office identified the woman as Shaquandra Ratliff. Earlier reports indicated the woman was 19, but the medical examiner determined that she was 20 years old.
Ratliff lived in the 6800 block of South Morgan.
No one is in custody for the shooting, and Area Central detectives were conducting a homicide investigation.
