A Chicago cab driver has pleaded not guilty to attempting to aid al Qaida.
Raja Lahrasib Khan entered the plea Monday in a brief appearance before U.S. District Judge James Zagel. At the hearing, federal prosecutors said they continue to want him held without bond.
The 57-year-old Khan remains in federal custody for now, but defense attorney Thomas Anthony Durkin says he's working on a plan to ask Zagel to release his client on bond.
Khan is accused of attempting to send aid to al Qaida by donating money to Ilyas Kashmiri. Kashmiri's a terrorist leader who opposes Indian control of the disputed territory of Kashmir.
Durkin told reporters having strong views on the Kashmir issue doesn't add up to a crime.
