If he only had a brain.
The suburban bank robber known as the Scarecrow Bandit was apprehended Thursday in South Elgin when, unable to find the getaway car he appropriated from a bank teller, he was apprehended on foot.
Scarecrow, unmasked as 51-year-old Joseph G. Dolgach from Lake in the Hills, Il, allegedly entered the bank, forced several tellers to give about $2,000 in cash, then demanded a teller's car keys.
But once outside, the evil genius was apparently unable to find his ad hoc getaway car.
A South Elgin police officer heard a dispatch about the robbery and spotted the alleged bandit running from the bank carrying a wooden stick and white bag.
Dolgach was apprehended at the scene, and no injuries were reported.
Dolgach's charged with the Aug 26th robbery in South Elgin and suspected in two additional robberies. He's scheduled to appear in court September 1st.
