Fall weather in Chicago could feel a lot more like spring these next few days.
Scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms will develop again Tuesday morning and are expected to continue into the afternoon before diminishing later on. So take your umbrella but consider ditching your coat for a light jacket north of Chicago and no jacket at all near the lake.
NBC Chicago meteorologist Andy Avalos is tracking a mild day with temperatures in the upper 60s in far northern sections and low to mid-70s south of Chicago and in the city. Tuesday is expected to be mild and even muggy with patchy fog and lows between 60 and 65.
Wednesday temps jump farther still as predicted highs reach into the upper 70s and low 80s. Thursday remains breezy, warm and moderately humid, Avalos says, though sunshine gives way to clouds, showers and storms in the late afternoon and evening.
Spring-like weather sticks around Thursday as afternoon highs linger in the mid- to upper-70s.
Don't bury your coat, though. The temperature plunge begins Friday as some showers remain early before clouds break for partial sun and highs in the low to mid-50s.
Mid-week high temperatures tank to 45-50 on Saturday with light lake-effect showers possible, and Sunday dips further into the 40s with more chilly temps on the way.
