Police Shoot Person in South Shore Neighborhood: Authorities

A person was shot by Chicago police Tuesday on the city’s Far South Side, authorities said.

After an exchange of gunfire with police in the South Shore neighborhood, a suspect was shot by officers in the 7400 block of South Bennett Avenue, sometime before 9 p.m., authorities said.

The suspect was taken to an area hospital. Their condition was unknown.

Investigators from the Civilian Office of Police Accountability were headed to the scene.
