Pair Robbed at Gunpoint in South Loop

One of the robbers pulled out a handgun before stealing their cell phones and keys, police said.

Two males were robbed at gunpoint early Sunday in the South Loop.

About 2 a.m., a 16-year-old and 20-year-old man were walking to their vehicle in the 800 block of South Wabash Avenue when they were approached by two people who initiated the robbery, Chicago Police said.

One of them pulled out a handgun before stealing their cell phones and keys, police said. They drove away in burgundy Chevy Malibu.

No injuries were reported and no one was in custody as of Sunday morning.

A similar incident also occurred in the area on Saturday at the 30 East block of 9th Street, where a 34-year-old man was robbed at knife point by two male black offenders. Police say the suspects were around the ages of 18-25. The suspect with the knife was wearing a black hoodie and gray sweatpants. The second offender was wearing a dark blue jacket with an Adidas logo on it.

The robbers fled the scene with the victim's wallet. No injuries were reported and no one was in custody as of Sunday morning.

Both incidents are under investigation.
