CPD Officers Hit By Bullet Fragments After Shots Fired at ‘Vicious Dog': Police

Two Chicago police officers were struck by bullet fragments Monday after another officer fired shots at a "vicious dog" on the city’s Southwest Side, police said.

The incident occurred around 6:50 p.m., police said, in the 3600 block of South Wolcott Avenue. An officer shot the dog after the animal charged at him, police said. A bullet ricocheted and hit two other officers on the scene. One officer was hit in the leg and the other was hit in the foot, according to police.

The officers were listed in good condition at a local hospital.
