Series of Armed Carjackings on North Side Prompts Police Alert

Six carjackings have been reported in five different neighborhoods

Chicago police have issued a public alert after a series of armed carjackings on the city’s North Side over the last week.

According to authorities, six different carjackings have been reported in five different north side neighborhoods, and residents have been urged to be on the lookout for suspicious activity in those areas.

In each incident, two-to-five men approach victims who are in their vehicles and then order them to exit. In some of the incidents, offenders have pointed guns at the drivers of the vehicles during the carjackings.

The incidents have occurred in:

• 1400 Block of West Sunnyside on October 1, 2018 at approx. 10:30 p.m.

• 2900 Block of North Paulina on October 3, 2018 at approx. 9:45 p.m.

• 3600 Block of North Greenview on October 3, 2018 at approx. 10:00 p.m.

• 2300 Block of West Waveland on October 3, 2018 at approx. 11:45 p.m.

• 4200 Block of North Hazel on October 8, 2018 at approx. 3:00 p.m.

• 2400 Block of West Leland on October 9, 2018 at approx. 9:15 p.m.

Police describe the offenders as black men between the ages of 20 to 30, but don’t provide any additional details.
