In a new survey, Chris Kennedy is maintaining his lead in the Democratic race for Illinois governor, but JB Pritzker is gaining traction.
The Garin-Hart-Yang survey, conducted on behalf of Kennedy for Illinois, focused on only two candidates. Kennedy had 44 percent with Pritzker at 38 percent and 18 percent undecided. Also running in the Democratic primary is State Sen. Daniel Biss and Chicago Ald. Ameya Pawar.
The poll of 602 likely Democratic primary votes was conducted the week of June 26.
Pritzker has kicked in $7 million of his own money and has been running TV ads throughout the state for nearly two months.
In mid-May, another survey showed Kennedy at the same 44 percent; Prtizker at 11 percent; City Treasurer Kurt Summers, who was considering a run at the time, at 7 percent; and undecided at 34 percent.
Summers has decided not to run for governor and has endorsed Pritzker.
