Dramatic Video Shows Naperville Fire, Police Officers Rescuing Child From Frozen Pond

The incident occurred Sunday, according to authorities

Naperville police and fire department personnel were able to rescue an 11-year-old child who fell through ice on an area pond, authorities said Sunday.

According to police, rescuers were called to the scene just before 5 p.m. by a neighbor who told authorities that a child had fallen through the ice of a retention pond in the 1300 block of McDowell Road.

Fire and police officers arrived on the scene within four minutes of the call, and began a rescue operation. The boy was able to tell rescue workers that his feet were stuck in the mud at the bottom of the pond, and divers were able to rescue him from the water within four minutes.

The boy was taken to Edward Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition. No rescue workers were injured during the operation.
