The Chicago Bears gathered at Halas Hall on Wednesday afternoon to begin preparations for their showdown with the San Francisco 49’ers in Week 2, but when they hit the practice field, they were missing some key players.

Wide receivers Brandon Marshall and Alshon Jeffery, both of whom missed chunks of Sunday’s 23-20 loss to the Buffalo Bills, did not participate in the practice. Marshall is nursing an ankle injury (although he says he will be ready to go for Sunday) and Jeffery has a hamstring injury that kept him out of the second half of the game.

The Bears’ injured offensive linemen were also on the sidelines, as Roberto Garza and Matt Slauson each continue to deal with high ankle sprains. It wouldn’t be a shock if both players ended up sitting out the San Francisco game, but the coaching staff won’t make that determination later in the week.

Two other players who were inactive in the loss against the Bills also missed practice, as David Fales (shoulder) and Tony Fiammetta (hamstring) both sat on the sidelines.

The Bears said that two players were limited in practice, with cornerback Charles Tillman and Josh Morgan rounding out the list of the walking wounded.
