Man Shot Multiple Times in Evanston IHOP Parking Lot

A man was shot multiple times in an IHOP parking lot in north suburban Evanston Sunday morning, according to police.

Officers responded to a call of a person shot in the 100 block of Asbury Avenue around 5:05 a.m., according to a release from the Evanston Police Department.

Upon arrival, officers were told that a 25-year-old man had walked into the emergency room at Presence Saint Francis Hospital with gunshot wounds to the torso, arm and leg.

The man, from suburban Beach Park, was in the the parking lot along with several witnesses when a black man in his 20s, of medium build and wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt, approached and asked the victim his gang affiliation, police said.

When the victim said he was not a gang member, the offender pulled out a gun, opened fire, and fled the scene in a gray vehicle, according to police,

The victim's injuries were not life-threatening, authorities said.
