Hillary Clinton Email Dump Includes Messages to Chicago-Area Friend

The latest batch of Hillary Clinton emails released by the State Department reveal correspondences with her friend from Park Ridge.

Betsy Ebeling has been pals with Clinton since the two were young grammar school friends in the suburb. While Clinton served as secretary of state, the presidential hopeful shared joking emails with Ebeling about politics in the Windy City, as well as her personal life.

In one email, Clinton described the first trial of Gov. Rod Blagojevich as "pretty puny,” referring to the fact that he was only convicted of one count, according to the Chicago Tribune. He was later found guilty of additional counts in a second trial.

According to the Tribune, Clinton also emailed Ebeling in August 2010: "We're trying to get away for a week on Friday. I'd really like to go to one of those Swiss sleep sanitariums if they still exist."

The emails were among roughly 7,121 released by the State as part of a monthly court-ordered release, according to The Associated Press.

Ebeling didn't immediately respond to NBC Chicago's request for comment.
