All lanes on the northbound Dan Ryan Expressway were shut down Wednesday evening after two people were shot, according to Illinois State Police.
Two individuals were traveling in a vehicle near 47th Street at approximately 7:20 p.m. when a person fired shots at them, striking both victims.
After the shooting, both victims were taken to area hospitals, and northbound local lanes were closed near Pershing Road, police said. Traffic is being diverted off at 43rd Street or onto the express lanes.
An investigation into the shooting continues Wednesday evening.
