The Comedy Bar still owes Jim Belushi more than $30,000 for promotional and endorsement services made at least three years ago, according to a third lawsuit filed by the actor Thursday.
The suit, filed by Belushi and his company Bessie Blu, claims the “According to Jim” actor made an agreement with Comedy Bar co-owner Kyle Lane on March 1 that Lane would make payments to him on the first of every month between April 1, 2016 and April 1, 2024 for past promotions of the River North stand-up comedy club.
The suit claims Lane has not made one payment to Belushi in accordance with their agreement in March.
The second suit Belushi filed against Lane in June 2015 claimed the two had originally made an agreement between 2012 and 2013 that Belushi would promote and endorse the Comedy Bar in exchange for payments. Belushi was required to make television appearances, agree to give radio and newspaper interviews and visit about 24 “high-end” Chicago hotels, the suit said.
Belushi claims that Lane owes him $38,142 for his promotional work, as well as traveling and lodging.
The one count lawsuit is seeking damages in excess of $50,000 for breach of contract.
Lane was not available for comment Thursday evening.
