Possible Presidential Contender Terry McAuliffe Campaigns for JB Pritzker

Former Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe, who is mulling a 2020 presidential run, was in Illinois Friday to campaign with gubernatorial candidate JB Pritzker and his running mate Julianna Stratton.

McAuliffe, who has close connections with the Clinton family and served as the co-chairman of Hillary Clinton’s 2008 run for the presidency, spoke about the possibility of jumping into the race, but said any formal decision is still a ways off.

“Once the election is over in 2018, I think the 10 or 20 of us that are thinking about doing it will potentially have to make a decision,” he said.

Pritzker, who served as a campaign adviser for Hillary Clinton’s 2016 presidential run, has thus far avoided campaigning with the former New York senator and secretary of state, but is thrilled with the enthusiasm his campaign has drummed up among Democrats.

“I’m so pleased that people are excited to come out and vote,” he said.

While it’s unclear if Clinton will attend any campaign rallies for Pritzker, Illinois voters will soon likely get a visit from former Vice President Joe Biden.

“We welcome the excitement that this visit will bring, and we welcome all the other support we’re getting,” Stratton said.
