Blood-Stained Butcher Knife Found Under Indiana Christmas Tree: Cops

Police in Indiana found a bloody butcher knife under a Christmas tree after, they say, a man stabbed his friend during an argument in a home decorated for the holidays.

Allen M. Orange, 23, was charged with attempted murer and felony battery Tuesday, the Times of Northwest Indiana reported.

Lake Station police arrived at a home in the 2500 block of Riverside Drive about 3 a.m. Thursday after a reported stabbing, the paper reported.

A man with a BB gun met officers outside the home and brought them to the victim who was soaked in blood on a couch in the home. He was treated for stab wounds in the tomach, neck and shoulder, according to the newspaper.

Police were told by a witness that a 12-inch, bloody butcher knife was thrown by the assailant under a Christmas tree in the home. The weapon was recovered by officers under the tree, the Times reports, citing court records.

Orange was denied bond and had been previously convicted of assisting a criminal in 2014, the paper reported.
